What Benefits Do I Get In Training My Dog

by trinity smith

There are common instances that an establishment won’t allow dogs inside but if a puppy or dog behaves nicely, or does a sit-stay without hesitation, the store owner makes exceptions for them. Then again, when a visitor arrives in your home, banishing a well-behaved dog to another room is not anymore necessary. Because there are no worries that he might cause nuisance. Moreover, since an obedience-trained dog is appreciated, he receives more attention. Family members, visitors, passers-by interact with him more often than nasty dogs.

Training can develop stronger bond between a dog and his owner. It demonstrates to your dog that you are his leader while understanding, mutual respect and communication is built. It develops respect from your pet which is essentially important because lack of this poses trouble, especially if he is rowdy in nature.

Obedience training also allows the trainer to control his movements and prevent potential tragedies. Not only will training develop responsiveness in the dog, but can save his life as well. Because in emergency situations, it enables you to have immediate control on his behavior. For instance, if he slips off his collar in the middle of the street, he can be safely heeled once given the command to facilitate putting the collar back. Or whenever someone leaves the gate open, he can be safely called back once spotted leaving. Furthermore, statistics show that pets which had early trainings are more likely to spend more than three years of a lifetime.

So what happens if you neglect training your dog? Of course he is likely to misbehave. And misbehavior may affect not just you and your dog but almost everybody else like your neighbors. Even all dog owners may be affected because every incident of dog nuisance heightens anti-dog sentiments as well as tough legal restrictions on all dogs. But it is the poor dog that will really suffer because everyone will be down on him.
