Puppy House Training Tips For Success

by Joyce Rogers

- Routine Bathroom Breaks

The first tip in Puppy House Training is frequent bathroom breaks. A puppys body is still developing when they are little. Their bladders are not fully developed until they reach about 5 to 6 months in age. Try getting your puppy on a schedule, about every two hours you should take them outside for a potty break. Also take them right before their bedtime and immediately after waking from a nap.

- Oops, They did it Again

Accidents are going to happen when puppy house training. You will want to clean up all accidents as soon as possible. Use a odor eliminating pet cleaner, I recommend Natures Miracle. If you do not use an odor eliminating cleaner the puppy will smell the sent and most likely use the area again. Try to avoid household cleaners, some contain ammonia that will also attract pets.

- Scolding and Praising

Another tip for puppy house training is to only scold the puppy if you catch them in the act. Scolding a puppy afterwards has no effect. It actually confuses the dog as they are not sure why they are in trouble.

Just like scolding you will want to praise your dog for a job well done. When they go to the bathroom outside be sure to tell them 'Good Boy'.
