Helpful Dog Training Tips

Disobedient dogs can usually be identified early on as a puppy. They will constantly bark for attention, jump at people, and not respond to commands. Larger dogs can make this problem even worse because of their size. Dogs need attention and affection. When your dog is barking because it is in need of something, do not ignore him and then give in after a period of time. This will reinforce his barking habits. He has now learned that after barking for a half an hour that he will get what he wants. Do not give a treat to your dog in order to stop this bad bevavior. Only reward good behavior.


As many of us with busy schedules know, house training a dog can be somewhat of a chore but it shouldnt be. To make things easier on yourself, place your dog on a regular feeding schedule. When your dog eats on a regular schedule it is easier to know when he needs to eliminate on a regular schedule. This should make things easier on you and your dog because you can better predict when your dog needs to use the toilet area. This will reinforce positive house training habits. It is important to remember that your dog (especially puppies) will have accidents from time to time. Do not reprimand him for these mistakes. This could confuse your dog and could slow down the house training process.


Barking is a natural behavior for your canine. Although it can be annoying or bothersome at times, it is unrealistic to think it can be stopped altogether but it can be put under control. Some dogs bark because of confinement. Often times dogs will take up barking after being left alone for long periods of time. Sometimes your dog will bark for attention and this can be an easy trap to fall into. For this reason your dog should be rewarded for not barking and not be given a treat in order to stop the barking.
